Glenwood Canyon

Glenwood Canyon has been carved over 3 million years of snowmelt from the Continental Divide through the Colorado River. This gorgeous 16-mile stretch of highway is home to the famous Hanging Lake Trail. This one mile (moderately difficult) hike uphill is about an hour and a half round trip hike that is well worth the work. Limited parking is available down from the trail head.

The bike trail that follows the River is a scenic way to get to know the land. Following the Colorado River with the bends of the land, you get to see views that you can’t see from driving the highway. Be sure to bring your camera! The Colorado River carves through the Glenwood Canyon and is a great place to go white water rafting and kayaking. In Glenwood there is a new Kayaking wave park. The Rio Grande Bike Trail

Rio Grande Bike Trail starts in Glenwood and winds its way up to Aspen, Colorado, using the old railroad corridor. The Rio Grande Trail has 42 miles of paved multi-use bike trail. The trail is protected from vehicle traffic except at intersections. The trail offers options for all length of rides. You can ride all the way to Aspen or go as far as you want and turn around. Doc Holiday's Gravestone

True West Magazine picks Glenwood as a 2010 True Western town because of its historic pairings of everyday life and historic attractions. Doc Holliday was Glenwood’s gambling, gun slinging dentist in the 1800s. He along with other colorful characters of Glenwood’s past are buried at Linwood Cemetery. This historic cemetery is located in downtown Glenwood and is a short hike. Today locals and tourists like the Doc Holliday Tavern located on Grand Avenue in downtown Glenwood.

In the summer and early fall months, every Tuesday night, there is a downtown market that takes place in Centennial Park and features fun, food, and entertainment. On Wednesday nights there is Jazz in Two Rivers Park. Come and Soak it all in!
